Learning to read may seem like a magical, mysterious process, but it is actually a very structured and sequential process.  I will be posting tips for teaching your child on this blog periodically.  Along with my program, I recommend using leveled readers for reading practice.
In an analysis of more than 9.9 million students, the study found that only students who read 15 minutes or more per day made accelerated reading gains. Students who had less than 15 minutes daily saw below-average reading gains, which put them at risk for falling behind other student. Additionally, students who read between half-hour and an hour per day saw the greatest gains of all.
A good source for free reading material is your local library, as well as free passages can be downloaded from Reading Vine.   http://www.readingvine.com.
